Gutter – A Bouffon Comedy Ritual
Soho Theatre
5th June, 22:15 (60 mins)
From £16 (plus £4 venue fees)
Gutter is London's underground cult comedy night, born in the filth of The Pen Theatre and crawling into the light for the first time.
Hosted by a vicious bouffon troupe - 'a little bit nasty' (Philippe Gaulier) - they emerge from a bin to run the show, drawing the audience in and spitting them out irreversibly changed.
If comedy is truth telling, bouffon is truth telling with teeth.
A world of clowning, drag and alternative cabaret, with a line-up of stand-out and emerging performers. Natalie Palamides, Julia Masli, Red Bastard, Jordan Brookes, Rosa Garland and Luke Rollason are among over 60 acts who've given their debauchery to the bin.
In just over a year, Tom Greaves' (Fudgey: Best Reviewed Shows 2024) scrappy, sell-out night has been nominated for a Chortle Award for Best Alternative and Clowning, and produced Gutter Fest - the world's first bouffon festival - a chaotic 60-act celebration including the legendary 30-act opening night Gutter Royale.
Now, for the first time, Gutter leaves its lair. Debuting at the London Clown Festival and Underbelly at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
The bin has arrived.
“Gutter delivers some of the most vital alternative comedy London has to offer.”

“For the community they’ve fostered, the festival, and this night in particular, Gutter have every right to be proud of themselves.”
